I look at TSLA’s price on my desktop station. It’s up almost 2%. I roll my eyes. Less than a minute later, my phone goes off with this alert, and BAM the stock is down almost 3% (now over 4% down). The lesson here:
IF YOU’RE A CEO OF A PUBLICLY TRADED COMPANY, SEND ALL OF YOUR TWEETS TO BE VETTED/APPROVED BY YOUR LEGAL DEPARTMENT FIRST.

I can’t get over how high Tesla holders risk tolerance is. I understand if you got in super low and just want to ride it out, but even so I would have bailed.
Tesla has such strong headwinds in the future, I can’t fathom holding into it above $ 225 and even then I’d take a strong look at other solvent companies first .

I would make an educated guess and say that most do-it-yourself investors that have purchased TSLA actually have absolutely no concept of what investment risk tolerance is.
I make this statement from experience.

Trump doesn’t really run the country, he just signs documents from the people who do run the country.....that and is a general blow hard about anything and everything else.
So don’t forget to Vote in Nov for the people who do run our country.

You’re right. I’m such “ an old” for thinking that antiquated SEC rules apply to Musk. He’s an innovator! A disruptor!! Don’t try to apply those stupid Boomer rules on Elon!!

The SEC is overrated. Ohio State will beat ‘ Bama in the p layoffs this year.

I’m more of a Big XII fan myself, but I agree with you on the SEC.
We should blame this investigation on Nick Saban.

Ok, keep in mind I only have a crude understanding of the whole options market .
I’m curious when folks short a stock , does the stock they are buying the option for, know? and how long are the terms that they have the “give” the stock back?

Nobody ever said you had to be smart to invest. lol.

All of that depends on the type of short you’re talking about. True short-selling is borrowing someone else’s stock (who has declared that they aren’t selling the stock no matter what), selling it, waiting for the stock to go lower, then buying the stock, giving the stock back to the owner, and pocketing the leftover money (after fees and what not). Those agreements usually have stipulations as to when the stocks have to be given back to the rightful owner.
Another way to “short” a stock is to use options contracts. Those are really complicated to explain (and are usually a big reason why people fail their Stockbroker license test, known as the Series 7 test), but there are ways to short a stock that literally give a person UNLIMITED LIABILITY, which means they can invest $1,000 and lose infinity dollars. That’s unlikely, but technically possible.
